Rangers Place Young Starter on Injured List; Recall Pitcher
It's been a brutal season for him and it's not getting any better with this news.
The Texas Rangers have placed starter Spencer Howard on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
Pitcher John King has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
Roster moves for Wednesday:
— Texas Rangers PR (@TXRangersPR) August 10, 2022
- LHP John King recalled from Round Rock (AAA)
- RHP Spencer Howard placed on 15-day Injured List, retroactive to Monday, with right shoulder impingement
How severe the injury is, is not yet known but with how bad Howard has been this season, the Rangers most likely have no desire to rush him back from the injury. In 37 innings this season, the twenty-six-year-old has posted an ugly 7.41 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts.
Left-handed pitcher John King has been recalled. The twenty-seven-year-old has appeared in 31 innings with the Rangers this season, sporting a 4.60 ERA, a 1.63 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts. He'll take Howard's spot on the active roster.
