Rangers Place Reliever on IL; Recall Pitcher

The Texas Rangers have placed pitcher Josh Sborz on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow strain. 

In a corresponding move, pitcher A.J. Alexy has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.

Sborz has really struggled in his time in the majors this season, posting a 6.45 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts over 22 innings.

Rangers have recalled A.J. Alexy from Triple-A Round Rock. 

Alexy joins the Rangers bullpen on Tuesday against the Houston Astros. The twenty-four-year-old has posted a 6.23 ERA, 1.85 WHIP, and three strikeouts over four innings. 

In the minors this season, Alexy has been no better, posting an abysmal 6.16 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 92 strikeouts over 87 innings. Of the 26 games he's appeared in, he's started 16 of them.
