Barlow has been on the injured list since the middle of July with a right index finger blister and has been on a minor league rehab assignment since July 31.
The twenty-six-year-old has compiled a strong 3.26 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 30 innings this season. He's also converted 13 saves.
The Rangers' manager had initially removed Barlow from the closing role, just prior to his injury, trying to remove some stress from him, but Barlow should see a good chunk of the the team's closing duties moving forward now.
