Pittsburgh Pirates Option Pitcher

The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated Nick Mears off the 60-day injured list and have sent him down to Triple-A.

Mears had been on a rehab assignment in Triple-A already, where he had a 6.89 ERA in 18 games. Overall, it is fair to say that struggled during his assignment, so it makes sense that the Pirates are keeping the 25-year-old in Triple-A for the time being. He didn't, however, lose his spot on their 40-man roster.
