Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Staying Put
While speaking with reporters, Pittsburgh Pirates GM Ben Cherington said that Derek Shelton will remain the team's manager for the 2023 season.
Although Shelton has a 127-214 record since taking over the managerial role, Cherington will continue to put his trust in him. Ultimately, it's hard to put a lot of blame on Shelton for the Pirates' struggles, as they are rebuilding and have not put together a competitive roster at all. Their 47-73 record shows that effectively.
It will be intriguing to see how the Pirates do with Shelton as their manager next season. Perhaps they will make some notable additions this offseason to help Shelton improve on his rough record.
