Phillies Release Veteran Infielder

It appears the 'City of Brotherly Love' has no more love for him.

The Philadelphia Phillies have released infielder Didi Gregorius.

Second baseman Jean Segura has been reinstated in a corresponding move.

The thirty-two-year-old appeared in 63 games for the Phillies this season, hitting an ugly .210/.263/.304, with one home run and 19 RBIs.

Gregorius is in the last year of his two-year, $28 million contract with the Phillies. He finishes his three-season stay with the Phillies, hitting .230/.287/.384, with 24 home runs, 113 RBIs and seven stolen bases in 226 games.

Bryson Stott will most likely serve as the primary shortstop moving forward as the team chases a Wild Card spot.
