Oakland Athletics Designate Veteran Infielder For Assignment
Jed Lowrie's time with the Oakland Athletics is coming to a close, as the veteran infielder has been designated for assignment.
The A's are likely to release Lowrie following this decision. However, he has become a notable name for them, as he has played seven out of the last nine seasons in Oakland. Yet, with the A's rebuilding and Lowrie struggling this year, this is a move that ultimately makes sense.
In 50 games this season, Lowrie has three home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .180 batting average. It will be intriguing to see if another team takes a chance on him - whether through a waiver claim or eventual free agent signing.
