New York Mets Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The New York Mets have designated Sam Clay for assignment.

Clay was recently called up to the Mets' major league roster, where he threw one scoreless inning in his lone appearance. Yet, that wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on the 40-man roster, so now he is heading to waivers.

Teams in need of some pitching depth could look at Clay as a solid option available. In 65 career games, Clay has a 0-5 record to go along with a 5.90 ERA.
