New York Mets Designate Infielder For Assignment

Deven Marrero is off the New York Mets' 40-man roster, as he has been designated for assignment.

Marrero was recently called up to the Mets and appeared in three games for the team. At the plate, he went 0-for-4 and struck out two times. With the Mets claiming Yolmer Sanchez off waivers, they needed to free up a roster spot for him. Thus, that made Marrero expendable.

It will be intriguing to see if another team decides to claim Marrero off of waivers from here. In 176 career games over seven MLB seasons, he has six home runs, 38 RBIs, and a .192 batting average.
