Cavalli was the 22nd overall pick of the 2020 MLB Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. The twenty-four-year-old has pitched decently in Triple-A this season, posting a 3.71 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a strong 104 strikeouts over 97 innings pitched. He's made 20 starts this season.
He gets a fairly easy first start against the poor Reds offense, so it should be interesting to see what he can do. Cavalli is the Nationals' top-ranked pitching prospect.
