Nationals Place Promising Infielder on Injured List

The twenty-two-year-old was in the midst of a breakout season before suffering the injury.

The Washington Nationals have placed infielder Luis Garcia, retroactive to August 13, on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain.

Garcia has missed the last three Nationals' games due to the injury and will now hit the shelf for a little while.

The twenty-two-year-old has hit a solid .289/.301/.417, with four home runs, 25 RBIs and one stolen base in 60 games played this season.

Garcia has just 170 career MLB games under his belt, hitting .268, with 12 home runs, 63 RBIs and 65 runs scored.

CJ Abrams has been recalled and will take Garcia's spot in his absence.
