Nationals Call Up Top Prospect Acquired in Soto Trade
He's getting promoted to the big leagues again, but this time by his new team.
The Washington Nationals are calling up shortstop CJ Abrams from Triple-A Rochester.
Abrams, the San Diego Padres' former number-one prospect, made his major league debut earlier this season. He was acquired by the Nationals in the blockbuster deal that saw superstar player Juan Soto shipped out to San Diego.

Abrams, a 21-year-old shortstop, debuted with the Padres earlier this year. Infielder Luis García is headed to the IL to make room on the roster.
With Luis Garcia heading to the injured list, Abrams will have an opportunity for everyday playing time.
The twenty-one-year-old hit .232/.285/.320, with two home runs, 11 RBIs and one stolen base across 46 games with the Padres this season.
In eight games with Triple-A Rochester, Abrams slashed an impressive .290/.343/.355, with two RBIs and four stolen bases.
Abrams was the sixth overall pick of the 2019 MLB Draft.
