MLB Rumors: Top 3 Landing Spots For Michael Conforto
Former New York Mets outfielder, and free agent, Michael Conforto is close to being ready to return to the big leagues. We reported on a rumor this week that teams are looking into his medical situation, hoping he can be an important bat down the stretch.
He was expecting a $100M free agent contract this past offseason, but a winter workout left him with a shoulder injury, and that scared teams away. He's apparently back on everyone's radar, so it's time for a look at just where the 29-year-old free agent could land, at least for the rest of the season.
Toronto Blue Jays
A big-time left-handed bat has been on the Blue Jays' shopping list for what seems like forever at this point. With George Springer's constant days off for a myriad of injuries, and the offensive struggles of depth outfielders like Jackie Bradley Jr. and Whit Merrifield, Conforto would be a perfect addition for the Jays.
Chicago White Sox
With the continued off-and-on injury problems of key outfield pieces like Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez, among other issues, Conforto could add a nice boost to a team that was expected to be a solid playoff contender, and are trying to hang around the periphery of the Wild Card and/or division races.
New York Yankees
Now wouldn't this be a kick in the head to Mets fans? The Yankees are struggling, however, and are in desperate need of a spark. Could Conforto provide it for them?
