MLB Rumors: Chicago Cubs To Be Big Spenders In Free Agency

Although the Chicago Cubs are rebuilding, expect them to have a big 2023 offseason. While speaking to the Chicago Tribune, Cubs Tom Ricketts said that he is happy with the process of the team's rebuild and is ready to be "very active" on the free agent market because of it.

This is a little bit of a surprising statement. The Cubs are having themselves a rough 2022 season, as their 46-65 record shows effectively. With that, they didn't trade Willson Contreras and Ian Happ to strengthen their prospect pool. Yet, Ricketts still feels that the Cubs are ready to make a big push again.

It will be intriguing to see what the Cubs do this offseason, but boy, they are certainly a team to watch now.
