MLB Rumors: Blue Jays, Angels In Trade Discussions

The Toronto Blue Jays have been eerily silent thus far at the trade deadline, and fans are getting restless. Toronto is looking to add relief pitching and a starter, and the latest rumor has them once again talking with the Los Angeles Angels about a former Jays top prospect.

Insider Jon Morosi has also said that a trade of Noah Syndergaard is "increasingly likely" today.

Syndergaard was a first-round pick of the Jays back in 2010, and was part of a blockbuster trade to the New York Mets before he made his MLB debut in 2015.

He was an All-Star with the Mets in 2016, and one of the top starting pitchers in baseball in the early part of his career.

But Tommy John surgery derailed his career, costing him two full seasons in 2020-2021, and in his comeback this season with the Angels, his velocity is down from what it used to be. He's been fine, with a 3.83 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP, but his 7.2 strikeouts per 9 innings are far below the close to 10 K/9 he was averaging earlier in his career.

Several teams are enquiring about Syndergaard; we'll see where he winds up.
