While speaking with reporters, Baltimore Orioles GM Mike Elias said that the team plans to "significantly escalate the payroll" this offseason.

After years of being basement dwellers, the Orioles have taken a big step forward in a very surprising fashion this year. At the time of this writing, they sport a 59-55 record and are flirting with a potential Wild Card spot this fall. It's been a fun year for the Orioles, and now they are going to be big spenders this offseason because of it.

It will be intriguing to see what the Orioles do from here, but Baltimore is ready to be competitive again.
