Mets Finally Get Their Dream Rotation
It took four months, but the New York Mets finally got a taste of that dream rotation they were looking forward to this season, as Jacob deGrom, one of the best pitchers of this generation took the mound for the first time in over a year. And he was dazzling.
For the 1st time in 391 days.

He touched 102 mph in a perfect first inning, on the way to a masterful return, going five innings, allowing just three hits and one run.

5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 59 pitches.
deGrom hit 102 mph on the gun and averaged 100 with his fastball. In every way but endurance, he looked like his old self.
Now, the question becomes his ability to do it every fifth game.
He threw 59 pitches, 13 of which were over 100 mph.
“To get out there and pitch and be healthy, that’s the reward,” deGrom said postgame.
Now paired up with Max Scherzer—another of the greatest pitchers of this generation—the Mets hope to ride that insane 1-2 punch down the stretch and into a long playoff run.
