The 32-year-old is having a down year for Miami, following two very productive seasons.
Aguilar was a great pickup for the Marlins. His 2020 & 2021 seasons were tremendous. They were counting on similar production in 2022. It did not happen. He could clear waivers, then perhaps join another team for the postseason.

After a 35 HR All-Star campaign in 2018 with the Milwaukee Brewers, Aguilar eventually landed with the Marlins for the 2020 shortened season. He batted .277 with an .809 OPS that year, and followed up in '21 with a 22 HR, 93 RBI season.
But Aguilar has fallen on hard times in 2022, batting just .236 with 15 HR and a .674 OPS, about 100 points below his career average. If he clears waivers, he could be a nice pickup for a contender down the stretch if he can regain some of his mojo at the plate.
