Lewis was absolutely crushing the ball during his minor league rehab stint, having many fans optimistic that he could make a significant impact for the Mariners upon his return.
The complete opposite happened.
In 14 games since returning from the injured list, Lewis has hit .098/.196/.171, with one home run and two RBIs. He also struck 18 times while walking just five times.
Those numbers are unacceptable and, as a result, the Mariners are sending him back to Triple-A in the hopes that he can find his timing again and return as the player everyone was hoping to see.
We'll likely see the twenty-seven year old back with the Mariners before the season's end.
