Harper has been sidelined since late-June following surgery on his fractured left thumb. Philadelphia Phillies President of Operations Dave Dombrowski said that a September 1st return for Harper is realistic.
Harper will assume the designated hitter role once again, upon his return.

The twenty-nine-year-old was on track for an MVP season before the injury, slashing a remarkable .318/.385/.599, with 15 home runs, 48 RBIs and nine stolen bases across 64 games. The Phillies are in the thick of the Wild Card race, currently sporting a 65-52 record, putting them a half-game up on the San Diego Padres for the second NL Wild Card spot.
