Cubs Recall Second Pitcher to Make MLB Debut Tuesday
Earlier today, the Chicago Cubs promoted pitcher Javier Assad to make his major league debut.
Now the club is also promoting pitcher Nicholas Padilla to make his major league debut on Tuesday as well.
Nicholas Padilla has been called up by the Chicago Cubs to serve as the 27th man in today’s doubleheader.

Padilla was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays out of high school back in the 2015 MLB Draft, however, he was non-protected and taken by the Cubs as a AAA-Rule-5.
Now with the Cubs, he has thrown fantastic minor league numbers, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 57 strikeouts over 43 innings this season. He has a 3-1 record and has also converted four saves.
The twenty-five year old is a strike-throwing machine, and will likely be used as a bulk reliever in Tuesday's doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals.
