Braves Ace Out With Concussion
It was a scary sight for the Atlanta Braves on the weekend, when their ace pitcher Max Fried tried to make a wild throw home during a crazy play, and smacked his head on the ground. Now we've learned that he suffered a minor concussion, and will miss his next start.
The Braves placed Max Fried on the seven-day concussion IL, backdated to Aug. 8, and recalled right-hander Jay Jackson.

The Concussion IL is a 7-day thing, and with it being backdated to Aug. 8th, he could eligible to start again as early as next Monday, pending his concussion symptoms.
Here's the play that led to the injury, and you can see Fried do a faceplant and his head hits the ground as he runs to pick up the ball down the first base line and fire it home:

Any start missed by Fried is a bad one for the Braves, who are a remarkable 70-30 in Fried's first 100 major league starts.
The Braves have recalled RHP Jay Jackson, and shuffled their starting rotation for their upcoming series.
