Jackie Bradley Jr. Has A New Home In The AL East

The Boston Red Sox decided they'd seen enough of Jackie Bradley Jr.'s anemic offense this season, and designated him for assignment this past week. But now they'll be seeing plenty more of him in the AL East, as the Toronto Blue Jays have signed him to a major league contract.

But the Jays aren't signing Bradley Jr. for his offense. JBJ is one of the top center fielders in the game, and will add a huge defensive boost to the outfield when he's out there.

Bradley Jr. was an All-Star in 2016, won a Gold Glove in 2018, and was the ALCS MVP that same year as the Red Sox went on to win the World Series.

The 10-year veteran was acquired by the Red Sox again this season after spending 2021 with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he could only muster a .163 average and an equally dreadful .497 OPS. His numbers back at Fenway weren't much better at the plate this season, batting .210 with a .578 OPS, 3 HR and 2 stolen bases in 5 attempts.

But he's still bringing the leather, and the Blue Jays are all-in on that.

Otto Lopez was optioned to make room, and Matt Peacock has been DFA's according to Jays beat writer Ben Nicholson-Smith.
