Blue Jays Reclaim Defensive Outfielder; DFA'd Two Weeks Ago

He'd only been gone for less than two weeks, but apparently the Toronto Blue Jays decided they couldn't live without Bradley Zimmer. The speed merchant, defensive whiz is back.

The Philadelphia Phillies quickly scooped him up off waivers when the Jays let him go back on Aug. 16th after their Jackie Bradley Jr. acquisition, but Zimmer lasted just 9 games with the Phils, who then DFA'd him on the weekend.

Zimmer batted only .105 in 87 plate appearances for Toronto earlier this season, but it's not his plate skills they're interested in.

The 29-year-old can go get it in the outfield, and with usual starting CF George Springer needing to get more and more relief from outfield duties due to recurring injuries, having an ace defensive replacement in the late innings is crucial.
