Bizarre, “Cartoonish” Play Leads To Rockies Loss
Ryan McMahon of the Colorado Rockies might want to think about freshening up his equipment bag. In fact, after this bizarre play that eventually led to the decisive runs in a Rockies loss, he's admitted it's time.

The ball literally went straight through his glove, leaving a gaping hole in the webbing. One Rockies beat writer called it "cartoonish".
"That was my old baby glove," McMahon said. "I've been using it since High-A. She's going into retirement now." He was in High-A in 2015, which means that glove had over 400 games of professional ball on it.
McMahon was charged with an error, as that play led to a 2-run inning for the San Francisco Giants, who went on to win the game 9-8 in 11 innings.

"So that DID happen, right? I couldn't tell what happened," McMahon continued. "When I looked down I had a huge tear in my glove. It's tough man... It would have been an easy inning. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it's out of my control."
Except to perhaps use a glove in a major league game that isn't seven years old.
