A's Pitcher Notches First Save, Gets DFA'd Next Day
32-year-old right-hander Austin Pruitt has been struggling to regain his footing in the big leagues after a few tough seasons. Sunday he picked up his first save in four years. Monday he was DFA'd.
Pruitt was the odd man out when the A's claimed Joel Payamps off waivers. Pruitt had pitched 37.2 innings this season in Oakland, posting a 4.78 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP with a 27:8 K/BB ratio. He recorded his one and only save in a win over the Seattle Mariners two days ago.The A's have designated RHP Austin Pruitt for assignment. The move clears a spot for RHP Joel Payamps, who was claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Royals Saturday.

It was Pruitt's 6th career save, the other five came with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2017-18.
In five seasons in the majors, he has a 4.82 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP.
