Zac Gallen Surfaces In Trade Rumors
The Arizona Diamondbacks are going to be sellers at the trade deadline, that's a certainty. And they do have some players for sale. One pitcher that teams have started to key on is Zac Gallen. But according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, those teams best look elsewhere.
Teams are wasting their time calling for... Zac Gallen. He's not going anywhere.
The #Diamondbacks are looking to retool rather than enter a full blown rebuild. This likely means Zac Gallen will remain in Arizona, but the expiring contracts of David Peralta, Ian Kennedy, and Zach Davies will likely be moved.

Nightengale goes on to note that several players with expiring contracts WILL be available however, including outfielder David Peralta, starter Zach Davies and reliever Ian Kennedy.
We discussed the problem with Kennedy yesterday, as he's now down with an injury, complicating his availability.
As for Gallen, teams have circled the D-Backs looking to acquire the young pitcher before. Last season, he was derailed by injuries, leaving him with a 4-10 record, a 4.30 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP, all career worsts.
The promising 26-year-old, however, has bounced back big-time this season, thus far posting a 3.40 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and a 4-2 mark in 15 starts. He's also under team control through 2025. The Diamondbacks are in no rush to let this great athlete go anywhere.

Arizona traded then-prospect Jazz Chisholm to the Miami Marlins in return for Gallen in 2019, a pretty hefty price as it turns out, so they're heavily invested.
