Yankees Place Pitcher on Injured List; Recall Outfielder

The Yankees have placed pitcher Miguel Castro on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 13, with a right shoulder strain.

Outfielder Tim Locastro has been recalled.

Castro has not appeared in a game since July 10, due to the lingering shoulder issue. The pitcher underwent an MRI on Friday, which revealed the strain, shutting him down for the next four weeks. The twenty-seven year old has been a decent option for the Yankees this season, appearing in 27 innings and posting a 4.00 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts. He's also tacked on five wins.

Outfielder Tim Locastro has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton. Locastro will provide the Yankees with some outfield depth in their final two games before the All-Star break. The thirty-year old has appeared in 15 games for the Yankees this season, batting .231 with one home run, two RBIs and four steals. The speedy outfielder recorded the fastest tracked footspeed of the 2020-21 season last year.
