White Sox Catcher Eyeing Return After All-Star Break

Yasmani Grandal has had a very encouraging rehab assignment thus far and appears ready to rejoin the White Sox roster following the All-Star break.

In 25 minor league rehab at-bats, Grandal has batted .360, with two home runs and five RBIs. In his most recent game, the thirty-three year old went 0-for-2 but drew three walks.

Grandal has been out since mid-June due to back spasms. For the White Sox this season, Grandal has really struggled, batting just .185/.237/.294, with two home runs and 15 RBIs.

If Grandal returns to normal form at the major league level, he will provide a big boost to the White Sox. The White Sox have won seven of their last 10 games, and are currently 46-46 on the season, three-and-a-half games back of the Blue Jays for the third AL Wild Card spot.

With Moncada finally playing like himself again, and now Grandal showing improvement, the White Sox could be a team to watch the second half of the season.
