Trevor Story Update On Hand Injury
It was a scary scene as Trevor Story reeled out of the box in pain after he fouled a pitch off his hand. He was attended to by a trainer and left the game. Fortunately, the word is in that x-rays did not show any breaks, and he avoided a serious setback.
Trevor Story thinks he dodged a bullet with his hand injury but is unsure if he will need an IL stint. Got him right on knuckle of ring finger.

The ball hit the knuckle of his ring finger, and there's certainly a lot that can go wrong in that kind of situation, so no (break) news is good news. He's still unsure how long he'll be out.
The Red Sox have 11 players on the injured list currently, and fortunately won't be adding any more, at least for the time being. Matt Strahm also escaped serious injury in the same game, after he was hit in the wrist by a comebacker.
Boston could ill afford to lose Story, who, although his average continues to flounder in the low .200s (.221), has been providing plenty of power and run production (15 HR, 58 RBIs), as well as stellar defense at second base.
The 29-year-old signed a 6-year, $140M contract with the Red Sox in the offseason.
