Tigers' Starter Throwing Again; Could Return Soon
Detroit Tigers pitcher Spencer Turnbull has begun throwing off a mound at the Tigers' spring training complex in Florida.
Turnbull is a year removed from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and, if his rehab progresses as planned, could be making some appearances for the Tigers later this season.
The twenty-nine-year-old was very good for Detroit last season before his injury, posting a 2.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts in 50 innings. He held a 4-2 record on his shortened season.
The highlight of Turnbull's season was when he threw a no-hitter on May 18 against the Seattle Mariners.
