Tigers Recall 2021 Rookie Standout

He took the Detroit Tigers by storm in 2021, delighting, exciting and surprising Tigers' fans with his play (and his name), as a Rule 5 draftee. But Akil Baddoo didn't come back in 2022 with the same mojo, and after struggling to a .140 average in his first 17 games, he was sent down to Triple-A for some seasoning.

Tonight, after two months at Toledo, he's back.

The 23-year-old started to regain his stroke in the minors, particularly of late, hitting .438 with six doubles and three home runs in his last 13 games.

"It's been nice to see", said Tigers manager A.J. Hinch "I've monitored his at-bats and watch him virtually every day. It's good to see him have some adjustments and then have some success off those adjustments. It looks like his vibe is back, his energy is certainly high and he's getting some success.

“He’s running the bases. He’s walking. There’s plenty to like with what he’s doing, which is exactly why we wanted him to get down there and play.”

In return, Kody Clemens is sent back down to the farm. Roger's son batted just .161 in 56 at-bats with the Tigers.
