Tigers Place Starter on 15-day Injured List

The Detroit Tigers have placed starter Beau Brieske on the 15-day injured list with right forearm soreness.

Brieske was scratched from his final scheduled start of the first half due to workload concerns. The twenty-four-year-old will miss his next few starts through the rotation, at least.

Brieske has posted a decent 4.19 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 54 strikeouts through 81 innings pitched. He has posted a 3-6 record in his rookie season thus far.

The Tigers were planning to limit Brieske's workload to avoid this type of injury, but it appears to have come slightly too late. The plan was for Brieske to start games, but only work a couple of innings, before turning it over to the bullpen. This would be consistent with how the team handled Casy Mize and Tarik Skubal in the 2021 season.

Brieske was drafted in the 27th round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Detroit Tigers.
