Tigers Pitcher Tires Of Waiting For The Call, Opts Out Of Contract

After 15 starts at Triple-A, 8-year major league veteran right-hander Chase Anderson has grown tired of waiting for the call from the Detroit Tigers, and has decided to opt-out of his contract.

Shortly after tossing six shutout innings for the Toledo Mud Hens Friday night, Anderson made the decision. He had a 4.63 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with a 62:27 K:BB ratio in his 17 appearances.

The 34-year-old spent four pretty solid years as a starter with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2016-2019, posting a 38-27 record with a 3.83 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. His last couple of years in the bigs, however, were a struggle, as he recorded a 7.22 ERA with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020, and an equally untenable 6.75 mark with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2021.

He signed a minor league contract in 2022, but after watching the Tigers call up 7 other pitchers to the Show this season before him, he decided to enact his third and final opt-out clause today.
