Tigers Lose Versatile Arm

 

The Tigers have placed pitcher Wily Peralta on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

The injury occured while delivering a pitch in the eighth inning Tuesday against Cleveland. Peralta, who will certainly generate some interest at the Trade Deadline, will be sidelined through the All-Star break.

In 33 innings pitched this season, Peralta holds a strong 2.16 ERA, 1.41 WHIP with 28 strikeouts. Pitcher Will Vest has been recalled to fill the vacant spot in Detroit's bullpen.

Will Vest, just optioned on Monday, returns to the Tigers' roster and brings his 3.41 ERA and 32/11 K/BB ratio in 29 innings with him.
