Some things are just bigger than baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays' attention today is more focused on a tragedy surrounding first base coach Mark Budzinski.

“It is with deep sadness the Toronto Blue Jays mourn the loss of Julia Budzinski, eldest daughter of first base coach Mark Budzinski and his wife Monica”
Devastating. An unimaginable loss. Our hearts go out to the Budzinskis.

This is a horrible tragedy, which, again, supersedes the game on the field.
And other teams around the league are feeling it too.
“Yeah, first things first, our thoughts and prayers to Mark [Budzinski], the first base coach for the Blue Jays and the Blue Jay family. I just found out about his daughter passing away in an accident. It puts everything in perspective." -- Alex Cora.

Cash, addressing Jays tragedy: "First and foremost just thinking about Mark Budzinski, his family, their thoughts, tragic loss, and obviously the #BlueJays players and staff. I know yesterday was a rough day; today is a rough day. So we're heartbroken as well with the #Rays.''

Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins said, "I have known Bud for more than 25 years and have always admired his commitment as a dad and husband first. He is loved and well-respected by our entire clubhouse and holds a special place in all our hearts."
Prayers up for Mark Budzinski and his family.
