Tampa Center Fielder To Be "Down For Some Time"
The bad injury news just keeps piling on for the Tampa Bay Rays. Center fielder Kevin Kiermaier is headed to see a hip specialist in Nashville, and in the meantime, manager Kevin Cash said he will be “down for some time.”
Coming right on the heels of shortstop Wander Franco undergoing hand surgery, the Rays are reeling.
Brandon Lowe. Mike Zunino. Kevin Kiermaier. Manuel Margot. Tyler Glasnow. Wander Franco. Nick Anderson. Pete Fairbanks. Andrew Kitteredge. Luis Patiño. JT Chargois. Let that sink in before crucifying Kevin Cash. We are still in the wild card hunt guys. Let’s keep the faith.

Kiermaier and Franco join a slew of other Rays on the IL, including... wait for it... Brandon Lowe, Mike Zunino, Manuel Margot, Tyler Glasnow, Nick Anderson, Pete Fairbanks, Andrew Kitteredge, Luis Patiño and JT Chargois.
But the news isn't all bad for the Rays, as they jockey for position in the crowded Wild Card race in the American League. Cash says that Lowe is on a rehab assignment and could return before the All-Star break, while reliever Fairbanks is also working his way back at Triple-A Durham.
