Royals Pitcher Designated For Assignment
The Royals are continuing to have a busy day, as they now have designated Foster Griffin for assignment. With this, they opened up a roster spot for recently-acquired Drew Waters.
Griffin has made five appearances for the Royals this season. In 4.1 innings pitched during them, he allowed six earned runs. Overall, it's fair to say that he struggled when called upon. Thus, this is a move that ultimately makes sense at the end of the day.
The Royals will now have until the end of the week to either trade or place Griffin on waivers. Time will tell if another team elects to give the 26-year-old pitcher a chance from here. If not, don't be surprised to see Griffin outrighted to Triple-A by Kansas City.
