Bryant will slot into the designated hitter role and bat third in Thursday afternoon's game against the Padres. The thirty-year old missed the past three games to celebrate the arrival of his new child.
Bryant has only appeared in 29 games for the Rockies this season, but is batting a very solid .300/.363/.473, with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
Montero has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. The twenty-three year old batted just .176/.200/.235, zero home runs and RBIs, and 15 strikeouts in his first 35 games with the Rockies this season.
