Reds Designate Catcher For Assignment
The Reds have removed fro Chris Okey from their 40-man roster, as the catcher has been designated for assignment.
This certainly isn't the news that the 27-year-old was hoping for. Okey was called up to the major league squad for the first time in his career recently, but now his time on their roster is over. In seven games with the Reds on the year, he had two hits in 12 at-bats.
Teams in need of some catching depth could look to take a chance on Okey. The Reds have until the end of the week to either trade him or place him on waivers. If he clears waivers, the Reds will be able to keep him in their system and likely will send him down to Triple-A. Alas, we will need to see what happens with him from here.
