Red Sox Infielder Placed On Injured List

Red Sox infielder Trevor Story has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a hand contusion.

The Red Sox have been playing atrocious baseball as of late, as they have won just three out of their last 10 games. Not too long ago, they seemed to be in a pretty comfortable spot in the AL East, but they once again have fallen to fourth place. Losing Story isn't going to help their chances of getting back on track, either.

A two-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Story's first season in Beantown hasn't been the best. In 81 games, he has 15 home runs, 58 RBIs, and a low .221 batting average. Yet, the Red Sox would rather have him in the lineup than not, so this is just another tough blow for them.
