Red Sox Demote Starter, Recall Replacement
Connor Seabold vastly improved from his first start of the season to his second, but the Boston Red Sox have decided to send him back to Triple-A for a bit more seasoning, nevertheless.
However, with starter Michael Wacha now dealing with a dead arm, it's still possible that Seabold could return to make another start later in the week.
Seabold's season debut (and 2nd ever major league start) was a bit of a disaster last week, when he surrendered 7 earned runs in 4.2 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. His follow-up performance, on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs, was much better, as he allowed just one earned run on six hits in four innings.
David Price texted Alex Cora last night at 1 AM to praise Connor Seabold: "That kid is good."

To replace Seabold on the roster, the BoSox have called up pitcher Kutter Crawford. The right-hander has struggled mightily this year in his 19.2 innings with Boston, with a 6.41 ERA. He is striking out a healthy 11 batters per nine, though, so there are some encouraging signs.
The Red Sox staff is in shambles right now, with Chris Sale, James Paxton, Rich Hill, Nathan Eovaldi, and Garrett Whitlock all on the 15-day IL, and the issues now facing Wacha.
