Red Sox "Best Starting Pitching Prospect In Recent Memory" To Start Wednesdasy

The Boston Red Sox starting rotation has been ravaged by injuries this season. It's time for some good news for the staff, and it comes in the form of the organization's top pitching prospect, Brayan Bello, who's been promoted to get his first major league start on Wednesday. How did we find out that Bello is set to suit up for the BoSox? Straight from the horse's mouth.

Bello has been called "the best starting pitching prospect the Red Sox have had in recent memory." He's the team's No. 4 overall prospect.

The 23-year-old features a dazzling array of pitches, including a fastball that's been clocked at 99 mph. An impressive changeup and slider compliment the heat.

After going 4-2 with a 1.60 in Double-A to start the year, he proved himself capable of dominating at Triple-A as well over the past few weeks, going 6-2 with a 2.81 ERA. Over 51 1/3 innings, Bello has a 72:21 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and has held opponents to a .209 average.

He was signed as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2017 at the age of 18.

He'll make his major league debut on the mound at Fenway on Wednesday, against Corey Kluber and the Tampa Bay Rays.
