Rays And Athletics Complete Trade

The Rays have acquired Christian Bethancourt from the Athletics in exchange for Cal Stevenson and Christian Fernandez.

Bethancourt will provide the Rays with some help behind the plate. Mike Zunino is currently sidelined, so Bethancourt can of course fill in when needed.

Bethancourt has had a decent campaign for the Athletics. In 56 games, he has four home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .249 batting average. Now, he will be aiming to keep this kind of play up for the Rays from here.

Stevenson and Fernandez are two minor leaguers who are trying to get their shots at the major league level. In 57 games this year with Triple-A Durham, he had two home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .265 batting average. Fernandez, on the other hand, has a 5-2 record and 2.79 ERA with Single-A Charleston.
