Rangers Sign First-Round Pick
The Rangers have signed third-overall pick Kumar Rocker to a $5.2 million contract.
Rocker was originally drafted by the Mets last year, but they were unable to come to terms due to a failed physical. Ultimately, that did not hurt Rocker's value, and now he is set to make serious money from the Rangers from here.
Rocker is viewed as having a lot of potential and could be a future ace later down the road. In 42 games with Vanderbilt, he had a 28-10 record to go along with a 2.89 ERA and 321 strikeouts. It will be intriguing to see how much of this excellent play translates over to the majors.
