Rangers Place Infielder on Injured List; Recall No. 3 Ranked Prospect

The Texas Rangers have placed infielder Brad Miller on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 18, with a neck strain.

The team has recalled infielder Ezequiel Duran in a corresponding move.

Duran will rejoin the Rangers after spending the last two weeks with Triple-A Round Rock. Duran, the number 56 ranked prospect in baseball, slashed .310/.354/.579, with 13 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 63 games this season between Double-A and Triple-A. He is starting at second base on Thursday.

In 16 games with the Rangers this season, Duran has hit .258, with two home runs, eight RBIs and two stolen bases.

Brad Miller is heading back to the injured list for the second time this season.

Through 65 games played, Miller has struggled with a .207/.258/.332 batting line with seven home runs, 29 RBIs and four stolen bases.

Duran is a very exciting prospect and it will be interesting to see if he can play well enough in this stretch to merit a stay in the major leagues.
