Rangers & Breakthrough Pitcher Open To Extension
After 10 unremarkable years in the major leagues, now at the age of 31, Texas Rangers starting pitcher Martin Perez has finally broken through as an impact arm in 2022. And it appears that the Rangers and Perez might want to keep that going for some time to come.
After spending his first 7 years in the bigs with Texas, with an ERA in the mid-4s, Perez re-signed with the team this season for $4M after three years split between Boston and Minnesota. He's flourished with a 2.68 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP and a 7-2 record for the Rangers, and has been named an All-Star for the first time in his career.

Perez said recently that he 100% wants to stay in Texas. “No, make it 300 percent. I’ve been in two other places and nowhere have I felt like as good as I feel here. Here, now, I feel like if I don’t do my job on the field one day, I can still do it in the clubhouse. I can help these guys. It’s not just about me and my career, but about this team.”
