Nationals Activate Starter Off Injured List

The Nationals activated starter Anibal Sanchez from the 60-day injured list.

He will start Thursday night in his season debut against the Braves.

Fully recovered from a cervical neck impingement, Sanchez will make his first major league appearance since September 2020. In 15 rehab innings, the thirty-eight year old posted a 4.02 ERA and a 15/8 K/BB ratio.

Pitcher Mason Thompson has been optioned to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Thompson posted six scoreless innings of relief this season for the Nationals. He should see more time at the major league level moving forward.
