MLB Rumors: Yankees "Unlikely" To Pursue This Trade Candidate
The trade market took another big hit on Wednesday, when it was announced that the Kansas City Royals have no less than 10 unvaccinated players, including top trade chips Andrew Benintendi, Whit Merrifield and Michael A. Taylor.
Yankees are unlikely to continue pursuit of Andrew Benintendi since he is unvaccinated. NYY has 6 games left in Toronto and could meet Jays in playoffs. Yanks are the one team to send their complete roster to play in Toronto.

And while the .317-hitting Benintendi was said to be at the top of the Yankees' wish list entering the home stretch of the trade deadline, that's all changed. As noted by MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the Yanks are now "unlikely to continue pursuit" of the former Red Sox outfielder.
Benintendi is ineligible to play in Toronto due to his refusal to get the vaccine, and the Yankees not only have six games left at the Rogers Centre during the season, but also could very well face the Jays in the playoffs. As the Pinstripers will undoubtedly be the No. 1 seed heading into the postseason, they'll be facing the winner of a Wild Card series, which could very well be Toronto.
As per our report earlier today, they'll likely turn their focus to another veteran outfielder, in the National League.
