MLB Rumors: Two Teams Named Favorites For Luis Castillo

With the New York Yankees being one of the favorites to land Luis Castillo, the Cincinnati Reds starter "put on a show" in the Bronx for his potential future team, potentially driving up the price to acquire him, tossing seven two-hit innings against the Yanks in a thrilling Reds victory.

Castillo allowed just one run and struck out eight. And while the Yankees must have been impressed with the Reds' starter, his own teammates were gushing about him as well.

"This is the best I think I’ve seen him," said teammate Joey Votto. "He’s been so steady over the last bit and he seems to be getting hotter. This has been really fun to watch. He’s got great stamina. The stuff seems to be getting better because I keep getting impressed feedback from the opposing hitters at first base."

"I love him and he's the man," Kyle Farmer said he told Castillo after the outing. "I hope he stays a Red forever, but who knows what the future holds."

What the future holds is some serious bidding for his services over the next couple of weeks, headed up by the Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to MLB Insider Jon Heyman:

Word is the Yankees and Dodgers are best-positioned to land the All-Star right-hander, who’s likely the best starter on the market.

Let the bidding begin.
